So today Shelly was busy doing what Shelly does during the day (mostly talk on the phone and clean), while Ashley was doing what Ashley does (mostly drool and yell), and Rachel was busy eating grapes (which is sometimes what she usually does between being two and being terribly two).
Duchess was watching Rachel and Rachel was watching Duchess right back. Rachel decided that she would taunt Duchess with her grapes - waving them in the air and teasing the dog with her food.
As could be predicted, eventually Rachel lost her grip and a grape was lost to the jaws of the furry animal. Rachel cried and carried on "Duchess took my grape, make her give it back!", et cetera, et cetera, to which Shelly replied "too bad, next time don't tease the dog".
Funny thing about this situation is that Duchess doesn't like grapes - in fact, when she gets them, she usually just holds them in her mouth for a bit until she remembers that she doesn't like grapes then drops them on the ground.
Which is exactly what she did.
And Rachel promptly and proudly declared "I got my grape back, Mommy!" as she picked the discarded fruit off the ground and ate it up.
MMMMmmm, Grapes.
