Rachel has really caught on to the whole Santa thing this year and these are something things I don't want to forget.
Rachel was counting down the days until he came and said, "When Santa comes he's going to fill the movie room with toys!" My thoughts: Fill?! What I said: "Remember Rachel the presents just go under the tree, I don't think it will fill the living room.
A conversation from Wed night after the girls took the bottom 1/3 of the tree's ornaments off.
Rachel: If I keep being naughty will I be on the naughty list?
Me: Yes (what else was I going to say, it's a parents leverage for good behavior this time of year), but if you're good you'll be on the nice list
Rachel: But I won't know until it's too late (now she's really getting sad and worried)
Me: Rachel, I think you'll be fine.
Rachel: Can we call him and find out? (whimpering and ready to cry)
Me: I don't have his number but I think you're on the nice list. Remember how earlier today you were playing with Ashley nicely. That means you were sharing and trying to make her happy those are all nice things. You are a very nice girl I'm sure you are on the nice list.
A couple days later Rachel was being awful. I finally stopped her and asked if she saw a pattern. Ashely would play with a toy, Rachel then cried saying she was playing with it, Ashley would go find something else to play with, then we repeat. Her thoughts she expressed through tears was, "I really am on the naughty list."
Christmas morning... we came down to the tree and I asked her so do you think you were on the naught or nice list? "Nice!"
