Part 1 of our trip East

Friday afternoon Wendy dropped Mike, Rachel and I off at the airport to begin our journey East. It's only a 5 hour plane ride but with a baby sitting in your lap for that whole time and a 3 hour time zone difference I didn't know what to expect. Rachel was wonderful! She slept the first 2 and a 1/2 hours and then played happily for the remainder of the trip. We arrived at the Baltimore Airport around 9:30pm local time, jumped on the bus to the rental car complex, got in our car for the week, and headed to York, PA where Keith was so generous to get us a hotel.

As we pulled into the parking lot Mike's jaw dropped! I could see the drool puddling in the corner of his mouth as he slowed to a crawl to stare at a classic hot rod. As he begins to go again he lets out an audible "ah" with another classic restored car to his right. The National Street Rod Association was in York for the weekend. With Rachel getting fussy in the back seat Mike had to take a drive around the hotel before we could go in and get our room key. We were greeted with all kinds of classic cars.

The following morning we called Keith and head to Hersey, PA. We stopped off at the Chocolate World and after learning we had to take the stroller to the "stroller parking" lot we proceeded on the tour of how Hersey makes all there wonderful mouthwatering chocolates. Of course, the end of the tour drops you off conveniently in the middle of a huge chocolate store. I was in heaven! We bought Rachel a large kiss pillow. We got our picture put on a Hersey Bar and tried avoiding the worlds largest candy bar. It was 10lbs of chocolate! We had lunch at the Soda Jerk Diner followed by our 1st visit to Rita's Water Ice.

Our day is not over yet... we get dressed in semi-formal attire and drive to Lititz, PA for the wedding of our friends Kaleb and Jordan Best. Jordan looked gorgeous in her gown. It was a quaint outdoor wedding with a beautiful ceremony. We unfortunately had to head out after the ceremony because Rachel was getting cranky since she hadn't gotten a good afternoon nap, but I don't think the 100* weather helped the situation. Before leaving Lititz we stopped for the 2nd time at Rita's.

Our day is still not over... after putting Rachel down for a nap Keith picked us up and we went to his bosses house for a dip in the pool. It felt great after a hot day. They lived at the top off a hill with lots of open space. It was so peaceful with out city noises, you could see the lighting bugs, smell the honey suckle and even see stars! I could have stayed there forever.

But alas we headed back to the hotel without any more Rita's and went to bed for in the morning started another full day.
