Tonight we had a family dinner at a Mexican Restaurant, Gringos. I really enjoyed the chicken enchilada with a tomatilla sauce or something like that it was based on a green tomato. If you've never had food with Rachel around you're missing out on quite an experience. In Rachel's world when you have food she should have food too. And if we let her she will eat all day long and anything that you give her. So I knew this before going so I grabbed her toast sticks and rice puffs for her to snack on.
Rachel was doing good until I took a couple tortilla chips and ate them without giving her one (she was eating her toast after already eating the rice puffs), she started fussing and tried to through the toast on the floor. But mom is wise and all knowing and stopped her from letting it go. Fortunately, she found a distraction in the form of men's volleyball. She got herself turned around in the highchair and was watching the t.v. You would have thought she knew what was going on by the way she watched and would make noises at the appropriate time as though cheering it on.
But now the dinner arrives... we're doing good because she's finishing up her toast while we eat. When she finishes or rather throws the rest of the toast to the floor when I was busy enjoying my own meal (so much for all knowing) I start feeding her my guacamole. Which she loves, but then again she kept asking for more lemon too.
Dinner is done. Rachel is getting tired and wants out of the seat. Plates are cleared. Bill has been left. So I place Rachel on my lap. A minute later I feel ice cold water being poured into my lap! I hadn't been paying attention and Rachel grabbed my full glass of ice water and dumped it. It was dang cold but I couldn't do anything but laugh. A good thing was that I was soo wet that you couldn't tell I was wet! My pants were just a darker color. And my mom says, "Oh, Rachel's legs must be cold" No mom, my legs are cold. Rachel was standing and it missed her!
